The results obtained in the previous Haptic project were encouraging enough to start a whole new project, named Stiper (STImolazione PERcettiva | Perceptive Stimulation), always funded by INFN and in collaboration with ISS (Istituto SUperiore di Sanità). Stiper2 and GRATAMA are the natural prosecution of the former, and involves also Univerità di Roma 2.

The main goal of these projects was to design and develop a second generation reader device, with the portability and autonomy as the key features. The Haptic prototype was the result of a feasibility study, but for a real device useful on a daily basis, it should be light, small and not requiring an external PC to perform computations.
