Dr. Randazzo is now Fellow of Research on machine learning and neural networks at the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications of Politecnico di Torino.
Dr. Randazzo is currently working on the development of new methodologies and devices that exploit the IoT (Internet of Things) paradigm and artificial intelligence algorithms to monitor industrial processes and related consumption both in terms of raw materials and energy.
Dr. Randazzo worked as a consultant for everis Italia spa from 2014 to 2016. Subsequently, he undertook his PhD and worked as a mentor for the innovation promotion programs of the Agnelli Foundation. Then, he attended a post-doc at Politecnico di Torino on the topic “Neural networks for telemedicine (NEUNETMED)”.
Dr. Randazzo got his PhD cum laude in 2022 in electrical, electronics and communications engineering at the Politecnico di Torino with a final thesis on “Novel Neural Approaches to Data Topology Analysis and Telemedicine”. He graduated with honors in Computer Engineering from the University of Palermo.
He has published on: Neural Networks (Elsevier), Journal of Nephrology (Springer), IEEE Access, Neurocomputing (Elsevier), Electronics (MDPI), Sensors (MDPI); and has several chapters of Springer books to his credit. His works have been accepted at SAS(2018), IJCNN (2018-2021), WIRN(2017-2022), MEMEA(2019), and I2MTC(2020) .
He is among the inventors of 2 patents granted by the Italian Patent and Trademark Office.
His current research interests include: neural networks, data analysis and intrinsic dimension estimation, pattern recognition, fault diagnosis of non-linear systems, electrical drives, medical and biomedical applications, particularly in the cardiology field.
He also won the “Technology transfer: prototyping and business development activities in entrepreneurship start-up programs” research fellowship to promote the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among young talents.
From 2018-2022 he was co-founder and CEO of Soundbubble srls, an official spin-off of Politecnico di Torino.
He is also a member of SIREN (Italian Society of Neuronic Networks) and is the contact person for the CIS (Italy section) chapter of the Affinity Group Young Professional for the Italy section. He is the IEEE Young Professionals Vice-Chair for Italy section and the former treasurer of Politecnico di Torino IEEE Student Branch.
He has also been the student representative both into the IEEC Doctoral council and into the DET Department council.
He has successfully participated to several programs about innovation, both as a mentor and as a student, such as EIA2017 and Innovation For Change 2017.
Since 2017, Dr. Randazzo has been teaching in the “Electronic system Engineering” course of the Master’s Degree in Electronic engineering of the Politecnico di Torino, while since 2018 he has been collaborating in the “Fundamentals of Power Electronics” course of the Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering of the Politecnico di Torino. In 2021, he was one of the mentors of the “Challenge @ PoliTo by Students-Artificial Intelligence: Shape the future” course of the Politecnico di Torino. Finally, he collaborated on the “Advanced deep Learning” doctoral course.
Dr. Randazzo has participated in several funded research projects, including:
- Proof of Concept (PoC) for the creation of new intelligent wearable medical devices (PulsEcg, VITAL-ECG);
- Proof of Concept (PoC) for the creation of new innovative, mini, green, ultra-light radiosonde for cloud analysis (MIGRE);
- analysis of the residual life of vehicle batteries;
- automatic detection of hail stamps on vehicle bodywork;
- risk stratification in Brugada syndrome through artificial intelligence.
